Because Zen Cart does not throttle emails, you should have a mail service to send out newsletters to your subscribers outside of the zen cart platform.  If you do not, you stand the risk of having your hosting account cancelled because sending out mass emails is against most reputable hosting company's TOS.

MailChimp is a great service that allows you to have a large number of subscribers and send out thousands of emails per month without charge.  It gives you fantastic statistics - like who opened your email and read it, what emails bounced and more!  It also automatically unsubscribes bounced emails based on the parameters you set up in your Mail Chimp account.

This modification gives you a sidebox that visitors can enter their email address into and subscribe to your newsletter regardless of whether they have an account with you or not.

To install this mod, we will need access to your Mail Chimp account to generate the needed code for the sidebox.  Please include this info in the comments section of your order.
